Matterhorn climb August 2020

In August 2020 a group of 6 Climb2Recovery members were able to travel out to Chamonix to take part in our first challenge event with the aim to climb the Matterhorn.

The team spent a few days acclimatising in the Chamonix valley and spending time at altitude ready to take on the climb.

The Matterhorn was chosen by the team due to its technical nature.  Each member of the team has been involved with Climb2Recovery for a number of years and developed climbing, mountaineering and the rope skills required to take on this climb.

The Matterhorn at 4478 meters straddles the border of Switzerland and Italy, in addition to being one of the world’s most recognisable mountains it is also known to be one of the most dangerous. The team supported by professional mountain guides would break down into smaller groups to climb the mountain. The majority of the team would climb from the Swiss town of Zermatt up the Hornli ridge and 2 members would climb the Lions ridge from the Italian side.

The team were lucky to have incredible weather conditions leading to several successful summits and a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

We would like to thank everyone who made the expedition possible including our sponsors, mountain guides, support team and everyone who supported us from afar.
